The Irish Dance Podcast interviews Bluegrass Ceili Academy founder

Pull out your phones or computer -- it's time to listen to Bluegrass Ceili Academy founder and director Megan Moloney on the newest episode of The Irish Dance Podcast. According to host Martin Percival, the goal of The Irish Dance Podcast is to highlight members of Irish dance world, "one guest at a time, as a way for our community to celebrate its history, culture, richness and global reach." Percival is a former dancer with Riverdance, Dancing on Dangerous Ground, and principal dancer with Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance. Bluegrass Ceili Academy receives 2019 LexArts community arts grant

Lexington's community-based Irish dance school, Bluegrass Ceili Academy, has again been awarded a community arts development grant by LexArts. The grant will provide scholarships to dancers for the 2019-2020 class year. "It's an absolute honor for us to be supported by LexArts, through its Fund for the Arts, which is funded in part by the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government," said Academy director Megan Moloney. "As a community-based program, our partners -- including LexArts and Lexington Parks and Recreation -- make what we do possible." "With this grant, we'll be able make Irish dance an option for more students in our community, including both children and adults," Moloney said. Summer doesn’t slow down for this Lexington Irish dance school

From festivals to competitions to free classes, Bluegrass Ceili Academy, a community-based Lexington Irish dance school keeps the activities going all summer long. While our 2018-2019 classes wrapped up at the beginning of May, our dancers have kept dancing all summer long. Bluegrass Ceili Academy supports adoption of CLRG anti-bullying policy

On Jan. 2, 2019, An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG) - the Irish Dancing Commission - sent its members a copy of the the organization's proposed anti-bullying policy. Bluegrass Ceili Academy, Lexington's community-based Irish dance program, supports this policy and immediately adopted the proposed statement. A copy of of the policy is below: Bullying and unkindness, whether physical or emotional, are entirely unacceptable at Bluegrass Ceili Academy. It conflicts sharply with the school's principles and will always be treated seriously. Bullying is behavior by an individual or group, repeated over time, which intentionally hurts another individual or group, either physically or emotionally.Bullying can take many forms (including cyber-bullying via text messages or the internet).If you feel that you are being bullied, or are concerned about bullying, please contact your teacher…

Got shoes? Our Lexington Irish dance program will take them!

While our community-based Lexington Irish dance program has had a lot of support at filling our used shoe bin over the past year, we can still use your help. If you have lightly used or outgrown shoes you could donate, we’d be happy to have them. What do our Lexington Irish dance students need? Our students are mostly ages 4-9 and while our bin is full of itty-bitty shoes, we're looking for donations of children's sizes 10 and up. Have other sizes? We'll be happy to accept those, too. Why do we need your donations? Currently, none of the dance supply stores in Lexington stock ghillies or hard shoes, and local competitions where vendors may be selling shoes are hours (and months) away from the start of our classes.
