Lexington’s community Irish dance program takes the floor! Join Ceili & Co. for social dance pop-ups at locally owned businesses. Presented by Bluegrass Ceili Academy.

The experience: The steps and the sips

Every Ceili & Co. event is designed to be approachable, high-energy and completely low-pressure. Each gathering follows a simple format:

  • The steps (First 30-45 minutes): Join in a beginner-friendly workshop teaching a classic Irish social dance. No partner or previous experience is ever required.
  • The sips: The dancing wraps up and the social hour begins. Grab a “sip” from our featured local partner, mingle with neighbors and enjoy the atmosphere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to dance?

Not at all. Our workshops are designed specifically for beginners. We teach you everything you need to know on the spot in a relaxed, social environment.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No. Irish social dances are group dances, meaning we all dance together. Come by yourself or bring a crowd—you will fit right in.

Is there an age limit?

Our events take place at family-friendly, locally owned breweries, cideries and neighborhood spaces. All ages are welcome to join, as long as the host establishment allows it.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable shoes (sneakers are perfect) and clothes you can easily move in.

Is this affiliated with formal Irish dance associations?

No. These events are independent community social gatherings, not formal classes. They are entirely social in nature and are not subject to CLRG association rules. Dancers of all affiliations, backgrounds and skill levels are warmly invited to join the Company.
