For more than a decade, Bluegrass Ceili Academy has been proud to serve as Lexington’s community Irish dance program. We believe that local traditions are at their best when they bring people together in unexpected ways. This summer, we’re taking that mission out of the studio and straight into the heart of our city.
We are excited to announce the launch of Ceili & Co., a traveling social dance series taking the floor at our favorite locally owned taprooms, patios and neighborhood hubs.

What is Ceili & Co.?
At Ceili & Co. events, we believe in doing what makes your heart sing. It isn’t about a perfect performance; it’s about the company you keep. We are partnering with Lexington’s favorite local businesses to transform everyday social spaces into lively, welcoming community dance halls.
Every gathering offers a relaxed, low-pressure environment where you can move, mingle and support local businesses. No partner or previous dance experience is ever required.
Each pop-up event follows a simple, approachable format:
- The steps: Our instructors lead a 30 to 45-minute beginner-friendly workshop teaching a classic Irish social dance.
- The sips: We follow the footwork with a relaxed social gathering, giving everyone time to connect and enjoy a “sip” from our featured local partner.
This summer’s lineup
We’ve built a summer schedule designed to celebrate the spaces that make Lexington home. Mark your calendars and prepare to join the company at these fantastic local venues:
- Wednesday, June 3 (7-8:30 p.m.): Kickoff at Wise Bird Cider Co., 1170 Manchester St. (Distillery District)
- Wednesday, July 1 (7-8:30 p.m.): Wise Bird Cider Co., 1170 Manchester St. (Distillery District)
- Sunday, July 12 (2-3:30 p.m.): Mirror Twin Brewing, National Avenue
- Thursday, July 30 (6:30-8 p.m.): West Sixth Brewing, West Sixth Street
- Sunday, Aug. 9 (2:30-4 p.m.): Blue Stallion Brewing, West Third Street
And we’re not done yet! Keep an eye out for one or two surprise dates and locations to be added as the summer continues.
Everyone is welcome
Whether you are a seasoned dancer, a total beginner who has never taken a step or simply want to hang out and enjoy the community atmosphere, there is a place for you in the company.
An important note for our Irish dance community: These events are independent community social gatherings, not formal dance classes. They are entirely social in nature and are not subject to association or CLRG rules. Dancers of all affiliations, backgrounds and experience levels are warmly invited to join us.
