As we come to the end of 2016 and approach 2017, our Lexington Irish dance school is thrilled to be building a vibrant community of dancers, families and friends. From opening our doors in September, to putting our dancers up on stage for the first time in December, it has been an exciting year of firsts... and there are many more to come in the next year. A new Lexington Irish dance school In September, we opened our studio doors and welcomed our first adult and youth students. Classes are offered in partnership with Lexington Parks and Recreation through Artworks at the Carver School. Even though we're a brand new Irish dance school in Lexington, Bluegrass Ceili Academy has deep roots in the community. Through our partnership with Artworks at the Carver School and Lexington Parks and Recreation, Bluegrass Ceili Academy is investing in our community and its residents. We invite you to join us! What does it mean to be a community-based program? Here are a few things we think you should know. The Carver School Built in the 1930s through funds from the Works Progress Administration, the George Washington Carver Elementary school served students and families in the local community from 1934 until 1972. Ghillies, pumps, softshoes...jig shoes, hardshoes: no matter what you call them our friends in the Irish dance community have stepped up to support our Lexington Irish dance school with donations of gently used shoes. Our response: thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU! It's a low stress, fun-filled night of giving something new a try! We're offering these our free classes because Bluegrass Ceili Academy is committed to our communities here in Lexington -- the downtown community, the Irish community and our Irish dance community. As a new school, we've been welcomed in by so many and we're committed to giving back to those who are supporting us. Remember when summer break was the big thing and you couldn't wait to spend part of it at camp? That's what Bluegrass Ceili Academy is getting to do this summer and we couldn't be more excited to tell you all about it. The best part of camp so far? The energy! With students between the ages of 7 to 13, the room buzzes with summer excitement. As part of the Kiddie Kapers & Company Dance Program summer camp, Bluegrass Ceili Academy is stepping into one of the guest instructor spots each week. For the dancers, it's something new to learn. Supporting your community Irish dance school in Lexington

Starting up a Irish dance school in Lexington from the ground up is a lot of work. But we're thrilled to have a running start as we build our community-based program. We've already kicked things off with a series of free Irish dance classes in downtown Lexington at McCarthy's Irish Bar in the Spiders Well.
